How to repair your Wall-Heater, to stay warm in a San Diego winter

Updated: Dec 19, 2020

If you are a resident of San Diego, you must be accustomed to a temperate climate, all year round. However, even with a climate that is usually mild, the weather can still become unpredictable – especially, during the winters! While the average, low winter temperature of San Diego is 50°F or 10°C, and may not seem very cold, it is better to be prepared with a functioning wall heater repair san diego.  In case, your wall-heater is not working, there are some ways you can repair it at home, as listed below.

Ways to repair an electric wall-heater

1. Check if the thermostat has the correct setting, and make sure that objects are not blocking the air circulation around the heater.

2. There may be a blown fuse or a tripped breaker. Reset them, if that’s the case.

3. The heater may have loose wiring connections. Switch it off and detach it from the wall. Remove its thermostat knob, control knob and faceplate to check and tighten the connections, if they  are loose.

Ways to repair a gas wall-heater

For a gas wall-heater to work, keep in mind that its pilot light needs to be working continuously. If it isn’t working, here is what you may need to do:

1. Your heater may use natural gas, check to see if the gas is turned on.

2. It may use propane and the gas supply might have run out. Check the gas tank to see if it is empty.

3. If the gas is not the problem, the pilot tube may be blocked. To unblock the tube, get to the combustion chamber and clear it with some compressed air. Wait for around 5-10 minutes, before relighting the pilot.

Some other general problems

1. If your wall heater repair san diego emits a burning smell, its heating elements, probably, need to be cleaned. Switch it off and clean its heating elements with a vacuum.

2. If the heater's fan is not working, there may be loose connections to the fan motor, or the fan motor needs to be replaced.

3. The heater needs to have air circulation around it. Make sure there are no objects blocking the air circulation, otherwise, it may switch on and off, too often.

4. Make sure the room is well insulated and just the right size for the heater to work.
