How to repair a wall heater?
1.Turn off the power supply
At your home's electrical panel turn off the circuit breaker that controls your wall heater. Test if the electricity is off before proceeding with the wall heater repair.
2.Remove the grille
Clean out the grille with a vacuum. Using a screwdriver remove the screws that hold the grille. Set the grille and screws aside.
3.Check for power inside the heater
Test the voltage detector on a live wire, then test inside the wall heater to make sure no power is present. Test at various points of the heater focusing on connections where the circuit wires and wire leads are joined. If the circuit does not light up then it is safe to touch.
4.Check the electrical wire connections
Check the condition of the circuit cable that enters the heat box. This wire attaches to the wire leads that are soldered onto the heater. Strip away some of the insulation to join them securely.
Make sure there is no exposed wire visible beneath the conductor.
5.Examing the wire insulation
The outer insulation of all wires should be solid and free on nicks or cracks. If you find any then cover the wire with electrical tape.
6.CLean the electric coils
Using a vacuum with a thin nozzle, clean the heater's electric coils to remove all dust. Dusty coils can cause the overheating and permanent failure of the heater.
7.Inspect and clean the fan
Carefully vacuum the fan. BEcareful no to dislodge or damage the delicate vanes of the lower fan.
